Cat Behaviourist

Full Member

Francesca started her career working with animals as a veterinary nurse in 2014 and quickly became interested in working with cats. Francesca decided to study further certificates in feline nursing and cat behaviour after seeing how cats were so susceptible to stress in the veterinary environment and she wanted to do everything she could to help cats in her care to have the most positive experience as possible, whilst in the vet practice.

After qualifying as a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2017 Francesca went on to study at Sparsholt College for a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and graduated with a 2:1 in July 2022. She then decided to pursue a career as a feline behaviourist. Francesca joined the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors as a provisional member in 2022 and is working towards Clinical Animal Behaviourist status with the ABTC.

Francesca is passionate about feline behaviour and her particular interests are senior cat behaviour issues (Francesca’s dissertation focused on senior cats and the diagnosis and treatment of cats with feline Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome), behaviour issues in indoor cats, multi-cat households and wild cat hybrids such as Bengals and Savannah cats.

Francesca also writes articles for various websites and regularly writes blog articles for a cat food and lifestyle company called Tippaws ( Francesca’s research article on Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome in cats was published in the Veterinary Nursing Journal in December 2023 (

In her spare time Francesca is kept very busy by her menagerie of animals, which she has collected over the years (whilst working as a veterinary nurse) including a Bengal cross called Aurora, a Sprocker Spaniel called Ebony, a leopard gecko and tropical fish! Francesca lives with her little family, including her 3 year old son, in Plymouth, Devon and loves spending time together in the outdoors – paddleboarding, wild swimming, long dog walks and adventures in their VW Campervan.
