James Reavil has grown up around a multitude of dogs and moving into training and behaviour has been a natural progression having experienced numerous breeds in the family home from Basenjis, to Labradors and springer spaniels to German shepherds, the list goes on.

James has done lots of activities with his dogs from tracking and agility to obedience and Gundog work. He has been running classes for another trainer for 7 years in addition to running his own behaviour and training company.

James has been blessed that he has been able to put his passion and knowledge to good use helping owners of varying breeds and issues. He is a firm believer in utilising a breeds natural behaviours to fulfil their lives whilst maintaining a status quo in the home. Sometimes it’s better to manipulate nature rather than go against it.

As well as being a full member with the CFBA, James is a Master Trainer with The Guild of Dog Trainers. He is also an Accredited Instructor with The Gundog Club and as well as conducting behavioural consultations and bespoke training also runs Gundog training on a 121 basis and also runs classes. A firm believer that if you fulfil their needs, train them and treat them right, that this helps towards dealing with any behavioural issues and prevents them from starting. Some behavioural issues that owners have aren’t actually behavioural issues but the dog actually doing what it was bred to do. This is where James believes it is important to help the owner understand how best to communicate with their dogs.

James’ experience in behavioural issues continues to grow. Although achieving an Advanced Canine Psychology and Behavioural Diploma through The Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training and PETbc he continues to study to continually improve his knowledge and abilities. He is also a member of the Kennel Club Accredited Instructors scheme working towards accreditation.

He feels that there is a lot of misunderstanding as to why dogs display certain behaviours and that with proper guidance, owners can learn why dogs do certain things and how we can teach them not to do them and instead do other things.
