Jo qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1994 and worked in practice up until 2005. During her career as a Veterinary Nurse, Jo studied for a surgical diploma and dealt with many distressed animals trying to cope with pain and disability. This spurred her on to take a keen interest in dog behaviour as it was so important to read and understand dog body language to be able to interact appropriately. She coupled her behaviour knowledge with dog hydrotherapy and is proud to have helped mentally and physically rehabilitate many injured and post-surgical cases.

Jo set up a successful behaviour clinic in one of her Veterinary Practices, which then led to her running her own behaviour consultancy on a full-time basis in 2005. Jo has partaken in obedience, gundog training, agility, working trials and scent detection work with her Golden doodle ‘Marley’, and ‘Hogan’ a working black Labrador who is also part of her online puppy education platform <a href=”http://www.puppycoach.com”><strong>PuppyCoach.com</strong></a>.

Jo has studied a higher education course in dog psychology and has completed several of the CIDBT university accredited courses, she joined the University of Middlesex in the summer of 2012 and successfully completed her goal of achieving a Masters Degree (MSc) in Canine Psychology and Training.

Jo conducts one to one behaviour consultation’s, treating all behaviour problems and helps new owners understand and communicate with their puppy to avoid future problems and offers bespoke supportive advice via the Puppy Coach website. She routinely works via Veterinary Referral and often works alongside Veterinary professionals to assist in improving medical conditions through behaviour therapy. Jo also specialises in stress and anxiety related cases and challenging, life altering behaviour problems.

Jo is a published author of Puppy Coach ‘A Complete Guide to Raising a Puppy’ and writes and regularly presents public seminars on dog behaviour She has written local newspaper articles, spoken on local radio and appeared on a documentary for the BBC, discussing the rehabilitation of dogs.

In 2018 Jo proudly accepted a tutor role with the <a href=”http://www.cidbt.org.uk”><strong>CIDBT</strong></a> (Cambridge Institute of Dog Training and Behaviour) and now has an active role in education, writing and tutoring course’s for them.

Finally, alongside her CFBA membership, Jo is also registered with the Guild of Dog Trainers and actively assists them and the CFBA with awareness campaigns and literature.
