Malcolm Johnson is a full time Canine Behaviourist and Master Trainer based in Cambridgeshire. Malcolm travels to client’s homes around all the surrounding counties including North London, evaluating and modifying all reported dog behaviour problems with their owners.

Malcolm has studied canine behaviour through Middlesex University and has achieved a master’s degree in professional Practice in Canine Behaviour and Psychology. He is a full member of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association and a Master Trainer with the Guild of Dog Trainers.

When assisting and advising clients with their dog behaviour and training problems, Malcolm’s focus is always to teach the owner to train and understand their dog as this is often the key to a successful outcome as determining the root cause of the behaviour issues are fundamental to a successful behaviour resolution.

Reviewing the way owners and dogs interact at home is critical to helping deliver a positive result as all dogs need calm and assertive leadership enabling a more relaxed atmosphere to be established between owner and dog. Once the initial behaviour problems are overcome the training and obedience sessions become much easier to complete and the owners can really start to enjoy their dogs and equally the dogs enjoy the training.

Malcolm’s consultations often start with an initial phone call and chat or mail contact through his website from clients where he sends a behaviour questionnaire to be completed and returned for review prior to an arranged visit to the owner’s home.

A full consultation then takes place where several detailed tests are carried out with the dog and a plan to resolve the issues is discussed and agreed. Following the visit, a detailed behavioural report is prepared and sent to the client and a follow up contact made with Malcolm over the next two weeks to ascertain how the plan has progressed.

Malcolm’s base in Chatteris (just north of Huntingdon) is composed of a large 3-acre canine training centre where he instructs clients with their dogs in all obedience protocols including exciting areas of Agility, Flyball, tracking and Rally-O to name just a few.

The centre is also used for dogs that require further desensitisation and socialisation following the private consultations completed previously as well as one to one sessions for recall and where owners sometimes prefer individual attention with their dogs.
