Sean Knowlson has acquired many years’ experience working various breeds of dog in general purpose protection and search roles. His extensive handling knowledge and experience naturally led him to start training in many disciplines. Sean is the owner and head trainer at Hampshire Dog Club, which is based at a purpose built 3-acre facility on the South Coast, where Sean currently teaches many group sessions every week, including puppy obedience and socialisation, obedience at various levels, agility, scent discrimination and tracking.

The most satisfying aspect of Sean’s work is the 1-2-1 behavioural sessions, where he deals with various behavioural issues either at the club or via home visits in and around the Hampshire area. After carrying out a detailed assessment, he devises a behaviour modification programme specifically tailored for both the dog and owner. Sean has obtained behaviour qualifications with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training. He also has an Advanced Professional Instructor Skills qualification, a Higher Diploma in Professional Dog Training and is recognised as a Master Trainer by the Guild of Dog trainers. Sean has achieved recognition as a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor for companion dog training (KCAI CD).

Sean has owned and worked various breeds over the years including German Shepherds, Spaniels, Lurchers, Rottweilers, Malinois’ and numerous Cross Breeds. Most of Sean’s personal dogs have been rescued and re-homed with prior behavioural issues and he has gained great satisfaction from helping them to fulfil their potential by living stable, happy and active lives. He currently has a Malinois, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Whippet cross and a Sprocker, all of which he uses during his behavioural assessment and modification sessions. Sean’s immense practical knowledge, supported by his academic achievements, has given him the tools to solve any problem presented. His skill set gives him specialist knowledge in working with all types of dog aggression.
