Catherine A’Bear

Catherine is a dog behaviourist and trainer based in North Wiltshire. She supports clients in Wiltshire, Swindon, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.

Catherine holds a Level 6 Diploma in Applied Canine Behaviour Management and has successfully completed her Advanced Higher Certificate in Dog Behaviour and Training (Professional Practice) with the Cambridge Institute of Canine Behaviour and Training.

Her working methods are built on current research, professional training and a lifetime of dog ownership and experience. She supports her clients to train and manage their dogs with kindness and clarity.

Catherine offers a full canine behaviour consultation service for both puppies and adult dogs. She gathers information from talking to you, the owner, and observing your dog(s), both in the home environment and outside of it. Depending on the behaviour issue of concern, she will run a series of temperament tests with your dog in order to build as complete a picture as possible. Once she has arrived at a diagnosis she will explain this clearly to you and begin, with you, the programme of behaviour modification. The consultation visit is followed up with a detailed report and training plan for you to follow. She will explain the principles of how dogs learn and the basics of good dog training for her clients to build upon.

Catherine’s aftercare service is second to none and clients rate her highly for the accessibility of the information she provides and her approachability.

Over the years Catherine has owned many different dogs, raising some from puppies and obtaining others later in their lives as rescues or re-homes. She currently shares her home with three Cocker Spaniels, competing two of them in Agility. Her dogs are better at this than she is.
