Michael Fenrir

Mike Fenrir has been involved in Canine Rescue and rehabilitation since 2004, and has owned often multiple dogs all his life, most being Rescues. Early on in his career, he realised there was only so much he could learn in situ and endeavoured on a two decade long quest for knowledge and skill advancement. Undergoing practical courses in the UK. Training and learning from canine Titans, such as the late John Rogerson, The Kennel Clubs, Angela White at her IABTC centre, and seminars by Ian Dunbar. Attending training as well, from major rescues, such as The Battersea Academy and Dogs Trust.

Mike culminated his knowledge and experience into one prestigious award called, ‘Licentiateship’ LCGI with the City & Guilds organisation in 2018, but soon after wanted to keep pushing his knowledge and abilities further, joining the Guild of Dog Trainers in 2021. While completing some of the GoDT training & behaviour courses, he realised he had perhaps the knowledge and skills to complete the PETbc advanced canine behaviour and psychology Diploma, Which although challenging, he successfully achieved in 2023. And so, with two decades of front-line Canine experience, knowledge, and achievement so far. There was only one place left to strive to go, the prestigious CFBA, becoming an Associate member in 2024.

Mike’s drive for exacting standards and accountability, and his enthusiastic vocation towards Canine Rescue, makes him a strong advocate for Canine welfare. He works tirelessly towards preventing dogs from ever coming into rescue re-homing, often collaborating with owners to prevent them giving up their dog. While in Rescue, Mike and his colleagues try their utmost best to improve the dogs’ chances of finding a forever home, and he personally does all he can to pass on the Rescues training and behaviour programmes into a new home, often in his own time. Collaborating closely with adopters to ensure success together. Mike also works with other agencies such as Dog wardens, Local authorities, and emergency services like the Police.

Mike is particularly fond of the German Shepherd Dog breed and has owned several. Mike started a GSD page on Facebook in 2016 and has led dozens of GSD group walks around the scenic Isle of Man, often helping members with training and behavioural problems. Although Mike works primarily around Rescue, he is always happy and willing to offer advice and support to anyone struggling with a canine issue.
