Roy Young

Roy Young is a highly experienced canine behaviour specialist and professional dog trainer based in Falmouth, Cornwall, operating under RY Dogs (www.rydogs.co.uk). His work is grounded in evidence-based, ethical, and welfare-led practice, underpinned by ongoing professional development. He focuses on teaching owners how to train their dogs effectively, rather than just training the dog for them.

Roy’s calm, patient and knowledgeable style has made him a trusted trainer for many owners, whether they are working with puppies, adolescents, adult dogs, or challenging behavioural issues. He delivers personalised one-to-one training sessions, behaviour modification consultations, and specialised support tailored to each dog and client’s needs. He also runs a variety of classes with the most popular being pet gundog classes for novice and intermediate handlers.

He holds multiple respected qualifications, including Master Trainer status with the Guild of Dog Trainers. He also holds accredited diplomas through the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training and is constantly learning through attending seminars and workshops. He is also part of the team at the Guild of Dog Trainers, responsible for PR and developing new initiatives aimed at increasing the customer base.

Roy works in a calm, private countryside environment around Falmouth and spends his time focusing on building confidence, understanding, in order to create long-term behavioural change in both dogs and their owners.

He owns four dogs of his own and enjoys nothing more than taking off to the moors and walking and pondering on a life with dogs.
