Sue Gilmore

Sue Gilmore is a Fellow of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association and a Director of the Pet Education, Training and Behaviour Council. She is an experienced dog behaviour practitioner and trainer, working in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

In 2008, Sue founded Essex Dog Academy, offering classes suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities. It still flourishes today, largely due to the many thousands of satisfied clients who have recommended it. She helps dog owners by showing them that by changing their attitude towards their dogs and understanding them, their relationships with them will improve and strengthen.

For some dogs, traditional training classes may not be the best fit. Assessing the dog’s lived environment, gaining insight into the dog’s history, and understanding the relationship between the dog and the owner(s) is the starting point for addressing the unwanted behaviours that many dogs exhibit. Sue has years of experience in dealing with unruly or aggressive dogs and, with careful guidance, enabling them to become respectful, responsive family pets.

Sue believes that a dog should enrich our lives as owners. Understanding their character traits, welfare needs, and psychology is fundamental to having a well-mannered, respectful and social dog that is a pleasure to take anywhere. Training must be tailored to each dog’s needs without coercion; however, with professional guidance, enthusiasm, and fun, this can be achieved.
