Victoria Duke

Victoria has been supporting dog owners with behaviour modification for nearly 8 years, the final 3 of which she has also worked voluntarily as the Certified Behaviourist for charities, Desperate Dogs Romania, Help for Dogs in South Wales and Newport City Dogs Home, due to her passion for helping as many dogs as possible have a happy life.

Having previously worked in Secondary School Leadership, including Headteacher, across England and Wales, she has a number of honours degrees, including a Distinction in Canine Behaviour and a Masters in Education, where the dissertation focused on the use of rewards and punishment to achieve success. Her company, Pooch on a Pedestal, based in Newport, South Wales, frequently wins top awards for the South Wales area and local vets regularly refer clients to her for help.

The experience built in the last 25 years have enabled her to hone her skills to support private clients with behaviour modification strategies that work for them plus the dog as well as working with rescue dogs, of all breeds and backgrounds, to help them be able to successfully gain a forever home.

She has worked with nearly all breeds, backgrounds and behaviour need within the 300 or so dogs supported over the past 7/8 years but she believes life long learning and keeping up with the latest scientific research is also vital.

Victoria travels to a client's home so the dog is seen in his or her own environment and extra information can be gathered in a relaxed manner. She will then work with the dog and owner, producing clear videos, plan and any other resources needed, which will also be shared with the referring vet.

Victoria currently covers Cardiff, Torfaen, Newport, South Glos, Caerphilly and Monmouthshire.
